Our History

Dr. Tom Griner, Founder

Tom has a desire to see you experience the transforming presence of the Lord. He is an equipper and kingdom Herald. Over the years he has been catalytic in helping plant churches here in the US, Guatemala and Africa. He has hosted spiritual gifts conferences in several countries as well as proclaiming the kingdom in city evangelism campaigns to as many as a one hundred thousand people in a night. His ministry is marked by people being  transformed into lovers of Jesus and activated into ministers of the supernatural.
 Tom has an earned doctor of ministry degree from Oral Roberts University. He has authored several books including Word of Knowledge: How to minister in revelation. He is founder and president of Father's Heart International, a mission to plant churches, evangelize, and save vulnerable children.
 Tom is happily married to Kathie for 39 years. They have three daughters, three gran-daughters and one gran-son. They live in Springfield, Il.  [email protected]​

History of Us

Father’s Heart Reno-Sparks is a home-based Christian church/fellowship that equips, encourages, and serves the body of Christ. We advocate a lifestyle of intimacy with the Lord through experiencing His Presence. By Holy Spirit power, we express God’s love through vibrant worship, intercessory prayer, prophetic declarations, acts, and interactive teaching.  We value the unique expressions of individuals and their impact on our community.
​FHRS started as a training ministry of FHI. It was founded by leadership team Tom and Kathie Griner, Ken and Diane Kasterko, and Karen Page, FHRS pastor. Tom and Kathie Griner continue to serve oversight leadership, and Ken and Diane Kasterko continue to be local advisers. Karen Page, along with FHRS Board, now serve the fellowship locally. We are a part of the larger team which includes Albie and Helen Pearson, Michael Dalton, and Jimmy Byane from Desert Christian Community Church in Desert Springs, California.
Our ministry team has leaders who have been together from seven to 30 years. That means we have a rich heritage of team and family that spans several decades. We therefore offer an invaluable experience for encountering and understanding apostolic team ministry from an organic family model. We are graced with hearts captivated by the Presence of the Lord and the desire to awaken others to His presence. We are known for presence-filled worship, loving, prophetic equipping and serving. There’s something bigger going on! More specifically we are an apostolic family existing to:
  • Live and promote a lifestyle of intimacy with God through experiencing His Presence. Communion with Him is valued as the first thing and an end in itself
  • Calling forth people into destiny and family
Creating kingdom culture that manifests the words of Jesus, “The works that I do you shall do also and greater works.”

Statements of Faith

  1. There is only one God, in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who is the eternal self-existent one, Creator, and Redeemer of all. (1 Corinthians 8:6).
  2. God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him will share God’s fellowship on earth and have eternal life (John 3:16). 
  3. Jesus died and rose from the dead, and is seated with Father God interceding on our behalf (Romans 8:34). 
  4. The Holy Spirit is given to believers to teach, encourage, and empower us to live a life pleasing to God, and enables us to connect with God through worship, prophecy, prayer, and the Word (John 14:26). 
  5. The Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). 
  6. Our greatest calling is to love the Lord our God, and to love others as He loves us (John 15:12, Mark 12:30)
